2D / 3D / 4D Mapping Solutions

Maps that let users move through space and time

From clean 2D cartography to photorealistic 3D scenes and time-enabled 4D analysis — scene servers, 3D tiles, terrain, reality meshes and digital twins on ArcGIS, CesiumJS, MapLibre and Mapbox.

02Open-source stack

3D and 4D without a scene licence

CesiumJS renders 3D Tiles, terrain and time-dynamic scenes with no per-seat or per-view fee; MapLibre GL JS adds a globe, terrain and extruded buildings to 2D maps; deck.gl carries point clouds and trips; QGIS gives analysts 3D views and a temporal controller on the desktop. Data sits in PostGIS and is served by GeoServer.

3D Tiles and I3S are both open formats. We host 3D Tiles as static files on your storage or CDN, publish I3S from ArcGIS Enterprise where you already run it, and convert between the two.

Engines

CesiumJS

The open 3D globe: 3D Tiles 1.1 with metadata, quantized-mesh terrain, CZML timelines and clamped vector tiles.

MapLibre GL JS

Globe view, 3D terrain, sky and fill-extrusion buildings on vector tiles — 2.5D without leaving the 2D stack.

deck.gl

Tile3DLayer for 3D Tiles, PointCloudLayer for LiDAR and TripsLayer for animated movement, composited over MapLibre.

OpenLayers + OL-Cesium

A 2D OGC map that switches to a synchronised Cesium globe — one layer stack, two views.

Desktop

QGIS 4

3D map views, point-cloud rendering, the Temporal Controller for 4D playback and print atlases for 2D series.

Leaflet

For the 2D side: light embeds and public maps that link into the 3D scene.

Data and serving

PostgreSQL / PostGIS

3D geometries, building and asset attributes, time columns for scenarios, and vector tiles straight from SQL.

GeoServer

Imagery, terrain and thematic layers as WMTS/WMS draped on the scene, with GeoWebCache caching.

03Why LiveBird

What you get that a generic vendor won't give you

01

One 3D source of truth

BIM, reality capture and GIS attributes meet in one scene that planners, engineers and the public can open in a browser.

02

Scenes that perform

LOD strategy, tiling and caching tuned so city-scale meshes load on ordinary laptops and tablets.

03

Decisions with a time axis

Scenario sliders and playback turn static maps into tools for planning, response and communication.

04FAQ

Common questions

Scene servers, 3D tiles, terrain and time-aware maps.

Both are open, tiled 3D formats. We choose by ecosystem: I3S fits ArcGIS-centric organisations; 3D Tiles suits Cesium and open-source stacks. We also convert between them.
